Alumni Receptions, USA – Next Week! UC alumni in the USA are invited to attend one of three receptions next week in Seattle (12 May), San Francisco (14 May) and Los Angeles (16 May). Second Annual General Meeting & Dinner for UCAM (University of Canterbury Alumni, Malaysia), 16 May
UC alumni in Malaysia are invited to attend the Second Annual General Meeting and Dinner of UCAM (University of Canterbury Alumni, Malaysia) at the Imperial Chakri Palace KLCC, Level 4, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (AGM: 6:30pm; pre-dinner drinks: 7-8pm; dinner: 8pm onwards). Inaugural UK Chapter Evening for UC Alumni, London, 19 May The newly-formed UK Chapter will hold its launch function in London on 19 May, 6-9pm, at the offices of Lewis Silkin LLP. Leading immigration lawyer and Canterbury alumna Nicola Appleton will give an update on the recent changes to the UK’s immigration laws, covering the new Highly Skilled Migrant criteria, as well as spousal, permanent residency and British citizen applications. This will be followed by UC graduate Richard Morris giving a talk on how he worked with the head of Marks & Spencer to build a secondary school in Tanzania. See more details in the Event Diary.
Alumni Association 16th Annual General Meeting in Christchurch, 28 May
All University of Canterbury alumni are invited to participate in the Annual General Meeting at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna O Waiwhetu, at 5:30pm on Thursday 28 May, followed by a cocktail reception with Vice-Chancellor Dr Rod Carr and a guided tour of Rita Angus: Life & Vision, the stunning retrospective of the life’s work of one of the University’s most illustrious alumni. Alumni Reunion Weekend 2009
Planning is well under way for Alumni Reunion Weekend 2009, 9-11 October. The preliminary notification has been sent, and the Programme and Registration Form will be mailed once confirmed. This year’s Alumni Reunion Weekend celebrates the graduating classes of 1969 and earlier; 1979, 1989 and 1999 (note: this is year of graduation, not final year of study), as well as the 100th anniversary of History, the 90th anniversary of Rolleston House, the 25th anniversary of the MBA programme, the 20th anniversary of Physical Education and 10th anniversary of Sport Coaching, and the 10th anniversary of the Antarctic Studies programme.
