ALUMNI MEMBERS : SECOND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF UCAM ON SATURDAY, 16 MAY 2009 AT THE IMPERIAL CHAKRI PALACE KLCC
|
Posted by doriskyng on 2009/4/29 16:30:00 (44 reads) |
Dear UCAM Members and UC Alumni,
Forming UCAM was an important achievement, and we would now like to engage more with UCAM Members and with UC Alumni, from the young to the not so young!
The University of Canterbury has recently confirmed their support for UCAM employing a part-time Executive Officer, preferably an Alumni Member, and a delegation from the University is expecting to visit Kuala Lumpur in August 2009.
We have recently received the latest Alumni list of almost 1,000, and there are 431 with email addresses.
We are now commencing an active phase for UCAM, where there are regular events throughout the year, coordinated by UCAM, and also by the Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (MNZCC) and MANZA, and all UCAM Members and UC Alumni are welcome to attend.
We would like to really encourage many UCAM Members and UC Alumni to attend the AGM, and the AGM Dinner, and we are pleased to attach a number of documents.
Notice Of Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 16 May 2009
1) Notice of AGM 2009. 2) Agenda for the AGM 2009. 3) Annual Report. 4) Annual Accounts for 2004 – 2008 (5 x 6pages). 5) Minutes of the First AGM. 6) Nomination Form for UCAM Committee. 7) Flyer for AGM and the AGM Dinner & Reservation Form. 8) Invitation To UCAM Members and UC Alumni, to consider being a Part-Time Executive Officer of UCAM. 9) Invitation To Become UCAM Members + Membership Form. 10) Screening Invitation To Become UCAM Committee Members.
Election Of Committee Members
The existing Members of the Committee are as follows:-
1. President - Richard N Tankersley 2. Dato' Ahmad Kadis 3. Treasurer - Hooi Sum Kwai 4. Secretary - Mahmud Hishamuddin Abdul Rashid 5. Ordinary Committee Members -
* Datuk Pengiran Mohd Hussein bin Datuk Pengiran Haji Mohd Tahir Nasruddin * Kerk Boon Leng *Yip Khai Biau * Ir. Mohd Naim bin Mohammad
I am pleased to inform you all that all of the existing Committee Members have confirmed their willingness to proceed for one more year, and then some of them have indicated that they may stand down at the AGM in 2010.
As we are now moving from a level of modest activities, to an active period of growth in UCAM’s development, I would like to recommend that UCAM Members support a period of continuity by a combination of the following:-
* re-electing the existing 8 Members on the Committee, * electing a new Secretary * filling the 1 remaining vacant position as an Ordinary Committee Member * immediately after the approval of the Amendments to the Rules, if they are approved, the Committee will be able to invite the following additional Members on to the Committee:-
Ø Ordinary Committee Members – 1 + 3 = 4 positions
Although I have recommended that UCAM Members support a one year period of continuity by re-electing the existing 8 Members on the Committee, you are also receiving a “Screening Invitation To Become UCAM Committee Members”.
We would like to meet some UCAM Members who have an interest in considering joining the UCAM Committee this year, as the position of Secretary and 4 Ordinary Committee Members (subject to the amendment to Rule 7.1 being approved) are vacant, and in 2010, it is expected that some Members of the existing Committee will retire, requiring further interested UCAM Members to participate.
AGM Transmission Of The Notice Of AGM, And All The Other Attached Documents
As UCAM is very interested in reaching out and circulating our Notice of AGM, and all of the other many documents, to as many UCAM Members and UC Alumni as possible, and because of the size of the attached documents, kindly note that we will be sending all of the documents in two (2) Transmissions:-
* AGM Documents Transmission No. 1 * AGM Documents Transmission No. 2
The Committee of UCAM is really looking forward to a large attendance from UCAM Members and from UC Alumni, and for any UCAM Members and UC Alumni that may be willing to consider being on the Committee, possibly this year, or next year, we would like to encourage you to call me, or any Members of the Committee.
Please immediately put this event in your diaries, and either fax back, or email back with your completed Reservation Forms.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
My kind regards,
UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY ALUMNI, MALAYSIA Richard Tankersley President Tel: 03 2141 0822 Fax: 03 2141 0843 H/P: 019 221 2222

ALUMNI MEMBERS : Combined Alumni Members and
|
| Posted by doriskyng on 2009/4/9 0:20:00 (62 reads) |
Dear Canterbury Alumni Friends,
Registration is now closed.
The University of Canterbury Alumni Malaysia (UCAM), was established in 2002. This was an important step, as we are registered with the Registrar of Societies as a nationwide organization.
We have had a number of previous functions over the years, and we would like UCAM to have regular events.
One very popular event that was coordinated by UCAM, was a “Combined Alumni Dinner”, with over 100 Alumni from all of the New Zealand Universities.
UCAM would like to again coordinate a “Combined Alumni Dinner”, where invitations will be extended to all of the other New Zealand Universities Alumni. The New Zealand High Commissioner, David Kersey, has expressed his keen interest to host the “Combined Alumni Dinner” at the New Zealand Residence.
In the meantime, we are pleased to announce that the Annual Hannah Azizuddin Challenge Trophy 2009 is back, which is held on Labour Day, every year, and for this year, it will be held on Saturday, 2 May 2009, at the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort located at Batu Gajah in Perak, to enable participants to enjoy the 3 day weekend from Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May 2009.
The trophy was jointly donated by Mr Timothy Hannah, a former New Zealand High Commissioner based in Kuala Lumpur, and by Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Hj. Ahmad Azizuddin bin Hj. Zainal, a prominent Malaysian businessman, who is a graduate from the University of Otago.
The trophy is for a competition between 3 teams of golfers from (1) The Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, (2) The Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, and from (3) the combined New Zealand University Alumnis in Malaysia.
As the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort is a beautiful place to relax, you may want to consider taking your family for a weekend vacation from Friday, 1st May to Sunday, 3rd May 2009. There are a number of wonderful Chalets that look out over the lakes in the Resort.
This is the 11th Year that the competition has been held, and it is growing in popularity every year, and we received very positive comments from the “regulars” that attend every year!!
We would like encourage as many New Zealand Universities Alumnis as possible, to participate in the event.
Kindly make your reservation as soon as possible. The closing date for this event is 27 April 2009.
For further information kindly refer to the attached Flyer, and fax all entry forms to 05-366 7434, or email to cws_mship@myjaring.net or contact: Faridah at 05-366 7998 / 012-469 2578 / 016 523 6183.
We look forward to your participation.
My kind regards,
