Dear UCAM Members and Alumni Friends,

We are proud to present the ever Popular Golfing Weekend – the “Hannah Azizuddin Challenge Trophy 2012” which is held at the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, near Ipoh every year. This year it will be held on Sunday, 1 July 2012.

This is the 14th Year that the competition has been held, and it is growing in popularity every year, and we received very positive comments from the “regulars” that attend every year!!

The trophy was jointly donated by Mr. Timothy Hannah, a previous New Zealand High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur, and by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Hj. Ahmad Azizuddin bin Hj. Zainal, a prominent Malaysian Businessman, who is a graduate from the University of Otago.

The trophy is a specially designed competition for 3 teams of golfers from The Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, The Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, and from the combined New Zealand Universities Alumnis in Malaysia.

We would like to encourage as many New Zealand Universities Alumni as possible, to participate in the event.

Kindly make your reservations as soon as possible. The closing date for this event is Saturday, 23 June 2012.

I have attended this event every year since it commenced 14 years ago, and I would like to really encourage both golfing and non-golfing members to visit Clearwater Sanctuary Resort, because it is a “great weekend away for families” in a relaxing Resort with many lakes, trees and birds.

Dr Wood is keen to share with you the exciting developments and future direction for UC.

Dr Wood had a distinguished career in diplomatic service taking up Ambassador-level appointments to Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and twice to Washington DC. He was also New Zealand’s principal external trade and economic advisor and negotiator under successive governments. Dr Wood holds a BA Hons and MA Hons from the University of Canterbury before being awarded a BA Hons in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and later an MA Hons from Balliol College, Oxford. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by University of Canterbury.

It is that time of the year again and we wish all our alumni members Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012. Be merry and be safe.

Dear UC Alumni and Friends,

Quite a number of you will recall that the 1st All New Zealand Universities Alumni Networking Dinner was held in 2005, with a large attendance at the Smokehouse Restaurant (in Ampang at that time) with some Alumni from all 8 universities attending.


The 2nd ANZUAND was held on 2009, at the New Zealand High Commissioner’s Residence, and again, it was great that there were Alumni from all 8 universities.

Subsequently, during discussions with various Alumni from all the universities, we received encouragement to coordinate the event annually, and we are pleased to inform you all that we are holding the 3rd ANZUAND on Saturday 10 December 2011.

I invite you to join me and fellow alumni, friends and parents of current UC students at one of the functions I am hosting in six cities across Malaysia, and in Singapore between 13 and 23 July.

I am delighted to also invite your partner, and children and friends who may be considering study at UC in the future. Please forward my invitation to other UC alumni you are in contact with. I have also written to you and you will receive my invitation letter shortly.
