We would like to notify you of the following events:
21 Sept - "Bright Star" Book Launch for Christine Cole Catley's biography of Beatrice Hill Tinsley
Canterbury alumna Beatrice Hill Tinsley was a brilliant astronomer, recognised worldwide as a leading thinker in cosmology. This new biography by fellow Canterbury graduate Christine Cole Catley sheds greater light on an exceptional New Zealander.
Time: 5.30-7.00pm
Venue: UBS (University Bookshop, University Drive, Ilam)

30 Sept-1 Oct – Overnight Visit to Mt John University Observatory
Following on from last year’s successful trip, the Alumni Association will host a second visit to the Observatory at Lake Tekapo. The trip programme includes morning tea in Geraldine, an afternoon tour of the Observatory with superintendent Alan Gilmore, a seminar by Professor John Hearnshaw of Physics and Astronomy, dinner at Reflections Café and Restaurant overlooking Lake Tekapo, and a night-time visit to the Observatory. NB Restricted to 40 people.
Time: Depart Christchurch at 9.30am on Saturday 30 September Venue: Lake Tekapo
Tickets: $40pp (includes afternoon tea and dinner)

4 October – A Pint with Your Mates
Join in the monthly alumni drinks – first Wednesday of every month at the UCSA’s newly refurbished Common Room bar, 5.30pm-7.30pm. Complimentary nibbles provided by the Students’ Association. Bring your business card for the monthly prize draw!
Reunion Updates
20-21 October – Centenary Celebration of Commerce
Details of the Programme are now available for this event and alumni can register online. All Commerce graduates should receive a hard copy of the Registration Form in the post within the next fortnight.
11 November – Pre-1981 Engineering Alumni Reunion
Registrations are now rolling in for the dinner at Wigram Air Force Museum. Can you help us find these “Lost Alumni”?
Time: 7.30pm (drinks from 7pm)
